Brody's Job on the Farm!!

Brody the farm donkey

Meet Brody!! Brody is a miniature Donkey on Roger and Teresa Kinnards Farm. He is a wonderful pet full of energy and of course a little attitude. Brody has been on the farm for many years and has brought much enjoyment to his owners, as Teresa said, “I would not sell him for a million dollars, I Love that guy.”  Although Brody is a pet he has a very important job on the farm. Brody is in charge of halter training and electric fence training the heifers that are ready for the field. The heifer is tied to Brody for about 2 weeks. In that 2 weeks he teaches them to lead with a halter as well as not to go through or too close to the electric fence. After the 2 weeks they are left in the pen with others to be sure that they are trained and ready for their next move. On Brody's time off he enjoys roaming the fields as well as rolling in the dirt. It is Amazing to see such a small animal tied to a large animal and yet they follow his lead. One thing for sure is that no matter how social and friendly Brody is he is very protective over his girls. We are so fortunate to be able to experience so many different things on and about farming. I can honestly say that I have never heard of or seen this type of training technique, although I will say it is very efficient and effective.

Great Job Brody!!
